Crispier Crust
Turn your oven into a better place to bake
Great pizza starts with heat. When dough hits a hot pizza steel, the steel transfers heat quickly into the crust, helping it puff, crisp, and brown more evenly across the bottom.
That quick heat transfer is what gives homemade pizza a more pizzeria-style finish - a crisp base, airy interior, and better texture from edge to edge. It is a simple upgrade, but it changes the way your oven performs.
Use it for weeknight pizza, weekend dough experiments, or the kind of homemade pies that make everyone hover around the kitchen.
Oven or Grill
One pizza steel, more ways to cook
This pizza steel is made for more than your kitchen oven. Use it in a standard home oven, on a gas grill, over charcoal, or as part of your outdoor cooking setup when you want strong, even heat.
It works as a pizza steel for oven baking, a pizza steel for grill cooking, and a heavy-duty baking surface for more than pizza. Bake bread, roast vegetables, sear meats, warm flatbreads, or use it chilled for ice cream rolls.
It is the kind of tool that earns its space because it keeps finding new jobs.
Give the steel time to do its job
For the best crust, preheat your pizza steel with the oven so it can fully absorb heat before the dough hits the surface. That stored heat helps create a crisp bottom and better rise.
The finish gets better with use
Your pre-seasoned pizza steel may darken, mark, or change color over time. That is normal for carbon steel and part of building a cooking surface that becomes more seasoned with every bake.
Simple care keeps it ready
Let the steel cool, scrape off stuck food, wipe clean, and dry fully before storing. Avoid soaking or dishwashing, and add a light coat of oil when needed to maintain the surface.
Good questions
Frequently asked
Which pizza steel should I choose: 1/4" or 1/8"?
Choose the 1/4" classic pizza steel if you want maximum heat retention and plan to bake multiple pizzas, bread, or longer cooking sessions. Choose the 1/8" lightweight pizza steel if you want something easier to lift, faster to heat, and better for everyday pizza nights. (Honestly - I use both)
Can I use this pizza steel in a regular oven?
Yes. Both versions are sized to fit most standard home ovens. Preheat the steel with your oven so it can absorb heat fully, then slide your pizza, bread, or flatbread directly onto the hot surface. It does work best for bubbling cheese if you have a broil setting though.
Can I use this pizza steel on a grill?
Yes. This pizza steel can be used on gas grills, charcoal grills, and BBQ setups. It gives you a flat, even cooking surface for pizza, vegetables, meats, and other foods that benefit from strong bottom heat.
How do I clean and care for my pizza steel?
Let the steel cool completely before cleaning. Scrape off stuck food, wipe with warm water as needed, and dry it fully right away. Do not soak it or put it in the dishwasher. A light coat of oil after cleaning can help maintain the seasoned surface.
Pre-Seasoned
Ready to bake from day one
Your pizza steel arrives pre-seasoned with organic flaxseed oil, so you can start baking without doing a long seasoning process first. The surface is designed for easy release, strong heat transfer, and better results as it continues to season with use.
Like cast iron, carbon steel improves over time. The more you bake, roast, and cook on it, the more character the surface develops. It may darken, mark, or change color with use, and that is completely normal.
This is not a delicate kitchen gadget. It is a solid baking steel made for real heat, real use, and a lot of pizza nights.

What owners are saying
Love the pizza steel for my bread baking and pizzas. Going to try heating it up at 550 and putting steaks under the broiler and see how that does as well.
Use it for my sourdough baking.
Very well made pizza steel. Smooth edges, clean pre-seasoned surface, large finger hole and just a little bit larger at 14.25 inches. Be sure to measure your oven for proper fit. We'll packed and next day delivery was another plus! $20 coupon made this a heck of a buy.
Great product. My pizza results are markedly improved. Id used a 14 pizza stone for years with good results. But nothing compares to steel. Ill never cook an indoor pizza on anything but steel. The Doppio product is excellent. Highly recommended.
A Friday Night Game-Changer!
This carbon steel pizza steel completely transformed our pizza night! We hosted friends over and cranked our oven up to 550F, and this steel delivered delicious pizzas one after another.
The heat retention was incredible after we finished with the pizzas, we carefully moved the steel (still blazing hot) onto cooling racks on our stovetop and made scrambled eggs and bacon right on it! It did most of a jug of scrambled egg mixture before we noticed a drop in temperature.
The versatility of this steel is outstanding. It's not just a pizza tool. If you love pizza and experimenting in the kitchen, this is absolutely worth the investment. Still wanting to try baking sourdough on it!
Really good feel and quality too. Solid and really heavy! The only way I can think of that it'd be possible to damage it is to quench it in cold water after use, as it can warp it, but the included brochure warns not to do this! Dropping it on a concrete patio would probably do nothing more than scratch the corner!
Highly recommend!
